Fundriasing Drive 2014

WSA will be Fundraising throughout Alberta. Watch for our canvessors coming to your community in the near future. WSA is launching a new door-to-door campaign throughout Alberta. Canvessors will be selling cookies, chocolate & brownie packs in an effort to raise additional funds for the association and it's programs. The Cookies, Chocolate or Brownie packs will cost $20. Please help support the Wheelchair Community in Alberta by purchasing one of our Cookie, Chocolate or Brownie Packs.

Rugby Provincial Selection Camp

WSA will be holding Wheelchair Rugby Provincial Selections on December 13, 2014 in Penhold at the Penhold Multi Plex. The session will run from 2 - 6pm. All interested players should plan on attending. Selection is being made for the Alberta Provincial A & B Teams that will go on to represent Alberta at the Wheelchair Rugby National Championships in May of 2015. Canada Games - Western Canada Tournament

Edmonton will host a Junior Wheelchair Basketball Tournament on December 20 - 21, 2014 at the Saville Centre. Junior Wheelchair Provincial Teams from Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchewan will take part in this lead up tournament to the Canada Winetr Games 2015. Details for the tournament are listed below:

Zak Madell 2014 CWSA Male Athlete of The Year

A BIG Congratulations goes out to Zak Madell on recently having been choosen as the 2014 CWSA Male Athlete of the Year: Since starting wheelchair rugby in 2011, 20-year-old Zak Madell has risen quickly in the wheelchair rugby community. This year, he solidified himself as one of the best wheelchair rugby players in the world. At the 2014 Canada Cup International Wheelchair Rugby Tournament, Zak won both a Canada Cup All Star Award and was also named MVP. At the 2014 World Wheelchair Rugby Championships, he scored over 60% of the team’s points in important games and led in minutes played. He was once again selected tournament MVP and named to the All Star team. For these many honours, he was a finalist for the International Paralympic Committee Athlete of the Month.

Para Powerlifting

ParaPowerlifting - The Peak Power Strength Guild is hosting a development program at the SAIT Campus Centre at Peak Power Sport Development.  All levels of athletes are welcome to attend!
